Customers That Stick is designed to provide an in-depth resource for those interested in customer service and the customer experience. We will look at customer service from many viewpoints, all with an eye towards making sure our customers stick with us.
Customer service is everywhere on the web — from software, to brands, to blogs — this blog strives to create a unique resource that is accessible to those trying to learn more about customer service as well as professionals — employees, managers, and owners — striving to improve their customer service.
As a blog, this site is also a forum for discussion. Sometimes there is great wisdom in crowds, and we have numerous people across many disciplines bringing their customer service acumen to our comment section.

About Me (Adam Toporek)
The Past…
I grew up with customer service. My paternal grandfather, an immigrant, was a downtown merchant. He owned a sneaker store where I spent a number of formative Saturdays running to the storage room to grab shoes for a customer.
Both of my parents owned businesses at some point in my childhood. My mother owned children’s clothing stores, where, before we were able to properly work, my sister and I were enlisted to put red slashes on all of the price tags for the year end sale.
My father went out on his own in 1979, noting a need in the musical instruments market for a wholesale distributor. Through this business, which I worked at as a child and then again later as an adult, I learned the value of a customer, the impact of great service and personal client relationships.
The lessons learned in that business formed the base of focus on customer service an the customer experience that I was able to expand on later in life.
Book Learnin’…
Aside from my education in wholesale and retail environments, I actually managed to sneak some “book” education in along the way.
I graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Georgia. After living in Florida for the past many years, I have officially completed my sell out of the Georgia Bulldogs by making the official colors of Customers That Stick orange and blue — Gator colors. Fortunately, my friends still talk to me — barely.
I also have a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I hold the wholly random honor of being the 2,000th MBA graduate.
The Present…
I am the owner of IntenseFence Management Solutions, a small business management and consulting firm located in Central Florida.
I am heavily involved in franchising and am a franchise owner and regional developer for two national brands. I was also previously the owner of Intersekt Media, a web design and development firm.
And of course, I am the author of Customers That Stick.
Finally, the last thing you should know about me is that I don’t like saying “I” this much but could not bear writing about myself in the third person.
